Kashi Vishwanath Darshan Guide: How to Book Sugam, Sparsh and Aarti

General darshan at Kashi Vishwanath is free. For a faster visit, book Sugam Darshan, commonly around ₹250 per person in 2026, online at the official portal shrikashivishwanath.org. To touch the Jyotirlinga, book Sparsh Darshan, around ₹300, and to attend an aarti, book a separate aarti pass such as Mangala Aarti. Book only on the official portal, never through lane agents or WhatsApp sellers. Enter via Gate No. 4. I am Rajeev Sharma, a Varanasi-born pilgrimage guide of more than forty years. Fluent in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada.

The darshan options and fees

Kashi Vishwanath has one free option and several paid official ones, all run by the temple trust. The paid options buy you speed, access or aarti seating, not a different deity and not a spiritual privilege. The spiritual darshan is the same in every queue.

Data block: The official booking portal is shrikashivishwanath.org. The temple trust sets the Sugam Darshan fee, commonly ₹250 in 2026, and can revise it during festivals. Differently-abled (divyang) devotees generally enter free, and children below 12 are usually free for aarti.

How to book Sugam Darshan, step by step

Sugam means easy. It is the ticketed fast-track queue, ideal for seniors, families with children and anyone on a schedule. Here is the exact flow on the official portal.

  1. Go to the official portal, shrikashivishwanath.org. This is the only authorised site.
  2. Open the Users or Sign Up section and register with your mobile number and email.
  3. Verify the OTP sent to your phone.
  4. Choose Sugam Darshan from the list of services.
  5. Select your date and an available time slot. Slots fill fast on Mondays and in Shravan.
  6. Enter the details of every pilgrim and upload a valid government ID. The name must match the ID exactly.
  7. Pay the fee, commonly around ₹250 per person, by UPI, card or net banking.
  8. Download the QR-coded e-ticket. Carry a printout, since phones are stored in lockers at the gate.

Book 10 to 15 days ahead for ordinary weekdays, and 4 to 6 weeks ahead for festivals and Shravan. Reach Gate No. 4 at least 30 minutes before your slot.

From the ground: For most first-time pilgrims, Sugam Darshan alone is enough. I tell families to do one thing calmly rather than rush three rituals. If you only book one thing, book Sugam for the day, and add Mangala Aarti only if you truly want the 3 AM experience.

How to book Sparsh Darshan

Sparsh Darshan lets you enter the Garbhagriha and physically touch the Jyotirlinga, which is otherwise viewed from a distance. Slots are limited and book out, so reserve 2 to 3 days ahead, and 4 to 6 weeks before festivals. The process mirrors Sugam: register on the official portal, choose Sparsh Darshan, pick a date and slot, enter pilgrim details with ID, and pay, commonly around ₹300. Dress rules are stricter: unstitched cloth such as a dhoti or saree may be required for sanctum entry, and Sparsh can be restricted during very high-crowd periods like Shravan Mondays.

How to book Mangala Aarti and other aartis

An aarti pass is separate from a darshan pass. To attend the famous Mangala Aarti, the first aarti at around 3 to 4 AM, you must pre-book a seat on the official portal. Mangala Aarti commonly comes in two forms: a general booking that opens daily for the coming weeks, and a Tatkal booking that opens for the next day, with different gates and seating (LED) areas. Entry for Mangala Aarti is usually between 2:30 and 3:00 AM, and a ticket is compulsory at the gate. The other aartis, Saptarishi or Sandhya in the evening, Bhog at midday, Shringar and Shayan at night, also have passes booked the same way.

Aarti schedules and notes

Kashi Vishwanath daily rituals

AartiApproximate timeNotes
Mangala Aarti3:00 to 4:00 AMFirst aarti, pre-book, entry 2:30 to 3:00 AM
Bhog Aartiaround 11:15 AMMidday food offering
Saptarishi / Sandhya Aartiaround 7:00 PMSeven priests, very old tradition
Shringar Aartiaround 9:00 PMAdornment of the deity
Shayan Aartiaround 10:30 to 11:00 PMFinal aarti of the day
Beyond darshan and aarti, the temple trust offers sevas such as Rudrabhishek, an abhishek of the Jyotirlinga with chanting from the Yajur Veda, commonly around ₹450 with one priest, along with Akhand Jyoti, Satyanarayan puja and long-term pooja schemes. These are deeply meaningful but need separate booking and extra time. For most visitors, darshan plus one aarti is plenty.

Gates, slot timings and the midday break

Sugam Darshan ticket holders enter through Gate No. 4, near Godowlia and Shapuri Mall. Mangala Aarti uses its own gates (commonly Gate 1 for general and a separate gate for Tatkal). The temple keeps long hours, commonly opening around 2:30 to 3:00 AM and closing late at night, with a darshan pause in the middle of the day, often cited as 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Sugam slots are scheduled around the aartis and the midday break, not during them, so check your slot against the ritual cycle.

Data block: There is no entry during the midday break, commonly cited as 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Arriving in that window means waiting outside. Plan your slot before or after it.

What to carry, dress code and mobile rules

  • Carry a government photo ID matching your booking, a printout of your e-ticket, and small cash for the locker, prasad and offerings.
  • Phones, cameras, smartwatches and electronic items are not allowed inside. Use the lockers at the gate. This is why a printout matters: you will not have your phone.
  • Leather belts and bags are restricted.
  • Dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees. For Sparsh Darshan, keep unstitched cloth ready.
  • Reach your gate 30 minutes before a Sugam slot, and earlier for Mangala Aarti.

Ask Nandi and free online darshan

The temple has modernised. In January 2026 the trust launched Ask Nandi, an AI chatbot on the official portal that answers questions about the best darshan time, the lightest crowd windows and bookings, available 24 hours. The trust also streams a free live darshan of the sanctum for devotees worldwide, useful both for those who cannot travel and for checking the crowd before you plan your slot.

The scams to avoid (read before you go)

This is the part that protects your money and your peace. Every one of these is common at Kashi Vishwanath, and every one is avoidable.

  • The “secret back door” or “quick darshan” agent: Men near the lanes offer to take you through a hidden entrance for cash. There is no back door. They pocket the money and leave you in the general queue. The only real fast-track is Sugam Darshan on the official portal.
  • WhatsApp and third-party “VIP ticket” sellers: Official Sugam is around ₹250 only at shrikashivishwanath.org. Anyone selling guaranteed VIP darshan on WhatsApp or a lookalike site is a scam. There is no guaranteed tatkal VIP system.
  • Fake priests soliciting donations: People in priest dress near the gates ask for puja donations. Genuine temple priests are inside only. Do not hand cash to anyone outside.
  • Forced flower, milk and shoe-stand selling: Shopkeepers push offerings and shoe stands as if compulsory. Use the official shoe stand, and buy offerings only if you choose, from authorised stalls.
  • Lookalike booking websites: Several sites mimic the official portal. Check the exact domain, and never pay a site that is not the trust's own.

Money sentence: The official Sugam Darshan fee is set by the temple trust, commonly ₹250 in 2026, and is booked only at shrikashivishwanath.org. No agent, no WhatsApp seller and no back door can offer a genuine fast pass.

Help for elders, divyang, children and South Indian pilgrims

Sugam Darshan exists partly to help seniors and those who cannot stand in long queues, and differently-abled devotees generally enter free. Children below 12 are usually free for aarti. For South Indian pilgrims, our Telugu and Kannada speaking guides walk you through the official portal so your slot is confirmed before you travel, meet you at the correct gate, and explain the rituals in your language. We arrange a comfortable pace and South Indian meals for elders.

Let us confirm your darshan

We are Experience My India, rated 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor and Google, with 50,000+ guests served since 2018. We do not sell fake fast passes. What we do is guide you through the official booking so your slot is confirmed, meet you at Gate No. 4, handle transfers and lockers, and explain everything in Hindi, Telugu or Kannada. See our Varanasi packages or message Rajeev's team on WhatsApp at +91 7302265809. For the temple's history and the Dham corridor, see our Kashi Vishwanath Temple page, and pair your morning darshan with the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh nearby. Darshan options and fees

10 questions

Is darshan at Kashi Vishwanath free?

Yes, general darshan through the public queue is completely free. The temple trust also offers paid official options for speed and access: Sugam Darshan for a fast-track queue, Sparsh Darshan to touch the Jyotirlinga, and aarti passes. The free and paid queues see the same Jyotirlinga; the difference is waiting time, not the darshan itself.

What is Sugam Darshan at Kashi Vishwanath?

Sugam Darshan, sometimes called VIP darshan, is the temple trust's ticketed fast-track facility. Sugam means easy. It gives you a dedicated, faster queue, useful for seniors, families and tight schedules. It does not grant any special spiritual privilege or separate sanctum access; the darshan is the same as the free queue.

How much does Sugam Darshan cost in 2026?

Sugam Darshan is commonly cited at around ₹250 per person in 2026, a fee set by the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust. It can be revised during festivals and high-demand periods. Book only at the official portal; anyone charging far more or selling on WhatsApp is not official.

What is Sparsh Darshan and how much is it?

Sparsh Darshan lets you enter the sanctum and physically touch the Jyotirlinga, otherwise seen from a distance. It is commonly cited around ₹300, with limited slots that book out. Dress rules are stricter, often unstitched cloth, and it can be restricted during very high-crowd periods such as Shravan Mondays.

What is the difference between Sugam and Sparsh Darshan?

Sugam Darshan is a faster queue to view the Jyotirlinga. Sparsh Darshan goes further: you enter the Garbhagriha and touch the Jyotirlinga. Sparsh costs a little more, has fewer slots, and has stricter dress rules. Many pilgrims book Sugam for speed; those who want to touch the lingam book Sparsh.

Is Sugam Darshan worth it?

For most visitors, yes, especially on Mondays, festival days and during Shravan when the free queue can take hours. For around ₹250 you save a large amount of standing time, which matters most for elders and families with children. On a quiet weekday morning, the free queue can be fine.

Does paid darshan give better darshan of the deity?

No. The spiritual darshan of the Jyotirlinga is identical in every queue. Sugam and Sparsh change only the waiting and, for Sparsh, the ability to touch the lingam. Anyone claiming a paid option gives you a holier or longer darshan is misleading you. The difference is logistics, not blessing.

What is the Mangala Aarti and how much does it cost?

Mangala Aarti is the first aarti of the day, around 3 to 4 AM, considered the most sacred. A seat must be pre-booked on the official portal. Prices vary by seating, commonly cited around ₹300 to ₹500, with some listings showing a range by position. Entry is usually between 2:30 and 3:00 AM.

What is the Queue-less special darshan service?

It is a tourism-initiative service listed on the official portal offering escorted, queue-less darshan with a priest's assistance, a free locker and prasad, in a few simple steps. Fees vary. It is separate from standard Sugam Darshan. For most pilgrims, standard Sugam is sufficient.

Do I have to pay anything for general darshan?

No. General darshan is free, and so is entry to the Dham corridor. You only pay if you choose a paid option: Sugam, Sparsh, an aarti pass or a seva. Beware anyone at the gates implying that free darshan requires a payment or donation; it does not.

Booking process

10 questions

How do I book Kashi Vishwanath darshan online?

Go to the official portal shrikashivishwanath.org, register with your mobile and email, verify the OTP, select Sugam Darshan, choose a date and slot, enter every pilgrim's details with a government ID, pay by UPI, card or net banking, and download the QR e-ticket. Carry a printout, as phones are stored at the gate.

What is the official website for Kashi Vishwanath booking?

The official portal is shrikashivishwanath.org, run by the temple trust, along with the official app. [VERIFY the exact domain.] It is the only authorised channel for Sugam, Sparsh and aarti bookings. Many lookalike sites exist, so check the domain carefully and never pay through WhatsApp agents.

How far in advance should I book Sugam Darshan?

For ordinary weekdays, 10 to 15 days ahead is comfortable. For Mondays, Shravan month and festivals such as Mahashivratri and Dev Deepawali, book 4 to 6 weeks ahead, as slots fill quickly. Booking windows can extend further out; check the portal for the current range.

Can I book Kashi Vishwanath darshan on the same day?

Sometimes, if slots are available, but it is risky on busy days. Same-day Sugam slots can sell out, especially on Mondays and festival days. Advance booking is strongly recommended. If you arrive without a booking, the free general queue is always open, though the wait may be long.

What ID do I need for Kashi Vishwanath darshan booking?

A valid government photo ID such as Aadhaar, Passport or Voter ID, and the name must match your booking exactly. Carry the original on darshan day along with your e-ticket. Foreign pilgrims should carry their passport. Children's details are entered with the family booking. [VERIFY age rules.]

Can I book darshan for my whole family in one booking?

Yes. During Sugam or Sparsh booking you enter the details of every pilgrim and upload each required ID, then pay for the group together. Make sure each name matches its ID. Everyone carries, or the group carries, the e-ticket and IDs to the gate. Our team can do this for you if you prefer.

What payment methods does the official portal accept?

The official portal accepts UPI, debit and credit cards, and net banking. After payment you receive a QR-coded e-ticket by download, and usually a confirmation by SMS or email. Keep a printout, since you cannot use your phone at the gate. Never pay an agent or a non-official site.

Can I reschedule or cancel my darshan booking?

Darshan dates generally cannot be rescheduled once booked, so choose your date carefully. [VERIFY current cancellation and reschedule rules on the portal.] If your plans are uncertain, book closer to your confirmed travel dates rather than far in advance, while still leaving enough lead time for festival periods.

Do I need to print my e-ticket?

Yes, carry a printout. Because phones and electronics are stored in lockers at the gate, you will not be able to show a digital ticket on your phone inside. A printed QR e-ticket plus your original photo ID is the reliable combination at the entry gate.

Is there an official Kashi Vishwanath app?

Yes, the temple trust offers an official app alongside the website for darshan and aarti booking and information. [VERIFY the current app name and store listing.] Use only the official app or shrikashivishwanath.org. Avoid unofficial apps and links that claim to book darshan or sell VIP passes.

Gates, timings and entry

8 questions

Which gate is for Sugam Darshan at Kashi Vishwanath?

Sugam Darshan ticket holders enter through Gate No. 4, near Godowlia and Shapuri Mall. Reach the gate at least 30 minutes before your slot. Mangala Aarti uses its own gates. If you are unsure, our guide meets you at the correct gate so you do not lose time in the wrong lane.

What time should I report for my Sugam slot?

Arrive at Gate No. 4 at least 30 minutes before your allotted slot, and a little earlier on busy days. Late arrivals can miss the window, especially when the slot is close to an aarti, because darshan pauses for aartis. Build buffer time into your morning.

What are the Sugam Darshan timings?

Sugam slots are commonly available in a morning window and an afternoon window, scheduled around the aartis and the midday break, not during them. [VERIFY the current slot windows on the portal.] Choose a slot that does not fall right before an aarti, or arrive early so you are not caught by the pause.

What are Kashi Vishwanath Temple timings?

The temple commonly opens around 2:30 to 3:00 AM and closes late at night, with a darshan pause in the middle of the day, often cited as 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Darshan also pauses for each aarti. Early morning is the calmest time, before the daytime crowds build.

Is there a midday break at Kashi Vishwanath?

Yes, there is commonly a darshan pause around 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, when no entry is allowed. Arriving during this window means waiting outside. Plan your Sugam slot before or after it, and avoid timing your visit to land in the middle of the break.

Can I do Sugam Darshan during an aarti?

No. Darshan pauses for all devotees during the aartis, including Sugam ticket holders. Sugam slots are created in the windows between rituals. If your slot is close to an aarti, arrive early; otherwise you risk missing the window when darshan stops for the ceremony.

Is entry free for children and differently-abled devotees?

Differently-abled (divyang) devotees generally enter free, and children below 12 are usually free for aarti. [VERIFY current rules on the portal.] Sugam Darshan also helps seniors and those who cannot queue. Tell us when booking and we arrange the smoothest, calmest route for elders and special-needs pilgrims.

How long does Sugam Darshan take?

Sugam significantly reduces the wait compared with the free queue, often to a fraction of the time, though the exact duration depends on the day and crowd. The darshan itself is brief, as the queue moves continuously. Even with Sugam, leave a buffer, since timings shift around aartis and crowds.

Aarti, seva and online features

6 questions

How do I book Mangala Aarti at Kashi Vishwanath?

Book a Mangala Aarti seat on the official portal. There is commonly a general booking that opens for the coming weeks and a Tatkal booking that opens for the next day, with different gates and LED seating areas. [VERIFY windows.] Entry is usually 2:30 to 3:00 AM, and a ticket is compulsory at the gate.

Is the aarti pass separate from the darshan pass?

Yes. An aarti pass and a darshan pass are booked separately. If you want both Sugam Darshan and to attend an aarti, you book each one. Aarti seating is limited and entry without a pass is not allowed, so book the aarti in advance if you want to attend.

What is the Saptarishi Aarti?

The Saptarishi Aarti is an evening aarti performed by seven priests, each from a different lineage, in a tradition described as more than 750 years old. It is one of the most atmospheric ceremonies at the temple. A pass is booked on the official portal like the other aartis. [VERIFY timing.]

Can I book Rudrabhishek at Kashi Vishwanath?

Yes. Rudrabhishek, an abhishek of the Jyotirlinga with Yajur Veda chanting, is offered as a paid seva, commonly around ₹450 with one priest. It needs separate booking and extra time. The trust also offers Akhand Jyoti, Satyanarayan puja and long-term pooja schemes. Our team can help you arrange a seva.

What is Ask Nandi at Kashi Vishwanath?

Ask Nandi is an AI chatbot the temple trust launched in January 2026 on the official portal. It answers questions about the best darshan time, the lightest crowd windows and bookings, and is available 24 hours. It is a handy way to check crowd conditions before choosing your slot.

Can I watch Kashi Vishwanath darshan live online?

Yes. The trust streams a free live darshan of the sanctum on the official portal for devotees worldwide, regardless of any physical barrier. [VERIFY the current link.] It lets distant devotees have darshan and helps travellers gauge the crowd and atmosphere before planning their visit.

Rules and what to carry

4 questions

Are mobile phones allowed inside Kashi Vishwanath Temple?

No. Phones, cameras, smartwatches and electronic items are not allowed inside, for security. Lockers are provided at the gates for a small charge. Because your phone is stored, carry a printed e-ticket and small cash. Plan to leave electronics behind, or store them in your hotel safe.

Are lockers available at the temple?

Yes. Lockers at the gates store your phone, bag and leather items for a small charge. [VERIFY locker charges.] The Queue-less special darshan service includes a free locker. Either way, plan for the locker step in your timing, and keep your e-ticket printout and cash on you, not in the locker.

What is the dress code for Kashi Vishwanath darshan?

Dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees, with traditional attire preferred. For Sparsh Darshan, which enters the sanctum, unstitched cloth such as a dhoti or saree may be required. Avoid leather belts and bags, which are restricted. Comfortable footwear helps for the walk through the lanes.

What should I carry for darshan?

Carry your original government photo ID matching the booking, a printout of your QR e-ticket, and small cash for the locker, prasad and offerings. Keep your phone ready to store in the locker. For Sparsh, bring unstitched cloth. Dress modestly. That is all you need for a smooth entry.

Scams and safety

5 questions

Is there a secret back door for quick darshan at Kashi Vishwanath?

No. There is no back door and no guaranteed tatkal VIP shortcut. Men who offer to take you through a hidden entrance for cash are running a scam; they take the money and leave you in the general queue. The only genuine fast-track is Sugam Darshan on the official portal.

Can I trust WhatsApp agents selling VIP darshan?

No. Official Sugam Darshan is commonly around ₹250 only at shrikashivishwanath.org. Anyone selling guaranteed VIP darshan on WhatsApp or a third-party site is not authorised. The trust itself warns against this. If a deal is on WhatsApp or a lookalike website, treat it as a scam.

Are donations at the temple mandatory?

No. Any donation is voluntary. People in priest dress near the gates may ask for puja donations; genuine temple priests are inside only. Do not hand cash to anyone outside the temple, and do not feel pressured. Buy prasad and offerings only from authorised stalls if you choose.

How do I spot a fake Kashi Vishwanath booking website?

Check the domain carefully against the official shrikashivishwanath.org, look for the trust's branding, and be suspicious of sites promising guaranteed VIP or tatkal passes at inflated prices. Never pay a site that is not the trust's own, and never pay an agent in the lanes. [VERIFY the official domain.]

What do I do if a tout pressures me near the temple?

Keep walking, do not engage, and do not hand over cash or your phone. Touts rely on hesitation. If you have a Sugam booking, head straight to Gate No. 4. If you feel harassed, move toward the official helpdesk or security. A pre-arranged guide removes this pressure entirely.

Assistance and South Indian pilgrims

4 questions

Can you book Kashi Vishwanath darshan for me?

We guide you through the official booking so your Sugam or Sparsh slot is confirmed before you travel, and we never sell fake fast passes. We also meet you at Gate No. 4, handle lockers and transfers, and explain the rituals. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 7302265809 with your dates.

Do you help South Indian pilgrims with darshan in their language?

Yes. Our Telugu and Kannada speaking guides walk you through the official portal, confirm your slot, meet you at the right gate, and explain every ritual in your language. This is our core strength for pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, who often find the North's language and queues confusing.

How can elderly pilgrims do darshan comfortably?

Book Sugam Darshan to cut the queue, use the divyang and senior assistance where eligible, keep the walk short by entering from the right gate, and build rest buffers into the day. We arrange a calm pace, the nearest practical drop-off, and South Indian meals for elders. Tell us their needs when booking.

Can foreigners book and attend Kashi Vishwanath darshan?

Yes. Foreign pilgrims book on the official portal using their passport as ID and follow the same dress, security and photography rules. The same Sugam and Sparsh options apply. Our guides assist international visitors with the booking, the gates and the etiquette so the visit is smooth and respectful.

A few more practical questions

6 questions

Can I book Sugam and Sparsh Darshan together?

They are separate bookings, but you can book both for the same trip on the official portal. Many pilgrims book Sugam for a fast general darshan on one visit and Sparsh on another slot to touch the Jyotirlinga. Check slot availability for each, and remember Sparsh has stricter dress rules and fewer slots.

Is Sugam Darshan available every day?

Sugam Darshan generally runs daily in slots scheduled around the aartis and the midday break, but it is not offered during aarti times and can be suspended or reduced on certain very high-crowd festival days. On those days, plan well ahead or be ready for the free general queue.

What happens if I miss my Sugam Darshan slot?

Since darshan dates and slots generally cannot be rescheduled, a missed slot may mean joining the free general queue instead. This is why arriving 30 minutes early matters, especially when your slot is near an aarti. If timing is tight, our guide keeps your group on schedule to the gate.

Is there dhoti or saree rental near the temple for Sparsh Darshan?

Unstitched cloth for sanctum entry is commonly available to rent or buy near the gate, so you do not have to carry your own. [VERIFY current availability.] If you have booked a Sparsh Darshan or a sanctum pooja, keep this in mind, as stitched clothes can mean you are turned away from the sanctum.

How much do the lockers cost at Kashi Vishwanath?

Lockers at the gates charge a small fee to store phones, bags and leather items. [VERIFY current locker charges.] The Queue-less special darshan service includes a free locker. Carry small cash for the locker, and keep your printed e-ticket and ID on you rather than locking them away.

Can I attend the daytime Bhog Aarti or only Mangala Aarti?

You can attend other aartis too, not only Mangala. Bhog Aarti around midday, the Saptarishi or Sandhya Aarti in the evening, and the night aartis all have passes booked on the official portal. [VERIFY timings and passes.] Each aarti pass is separate from the darshan pass and from the other aartis.
