Cancellation & Refund Policy
Plans change, and we would rather you knew our terms before you booked than discovered them after. Thank you for choosing Experience My India. Please review this policy carefully before making any change to your reservation. Your written quote is the binding document; where it states different terms for your specific trip (festival dates especially), the written quote governs.
Cancellation timeline and refunds
| When you cancel | Refund | What is retained |
|---|---|---|
| More than 30 days before travel | 80% refunded | 20% administrative and processing fee |
| 7 to 30 days before travel | 50% refunded | 50% cancellation fee |
| Within 7 days of travel | No refund | Full amount, as rebooking is not possible this close to travel |
These slabs apply to standard bookings. Festival-date and peak-season bookings carry stricter terms because the hotels themselves take non-refundable positions on those dates; those exact terms are printed on your quote before you pay, never applied as a surprise.
Festival and peak-date bookings
Dev Deepawali, Deepotsav, Ram Navami, Maha Shivratri, Magh Mela and Kumbh, and the winter peak, involve hotels and boats that require full, non-refundable advance payment on their side. When your booking includes these dates, your quote states the non-refundable portion explicitly, and we pass through the suppliers’ terms rather than absorbing and inflating them. Book festival dates knowing this; it is the honest cost of a room on the ghats on Kartik Purnima.
Force majeure: natural calamities and unforeseen events
In the event of natural calamities (floods, earthquakes, roadblocks) or unforeseen circumstances (flight cancellations, delays, strikes, government orders, temple closures) that disrupt travel, refunds are not issued for the disrupted portion, as these situations are beyond our control. We will do everything possible to reroute the day or reschedule, and we strongly encourage every guest to purchase travel insurance to cover such contingencies. Where a confirmed darshan is blocked by a temple or government order specifically, we reroute the day or adjust the recoverable portion of the bill and tell you which before it happens.
Advance retention and future-booking option
If you cancel but wish to postpone rather than end the trip, the advance you have paid is retained as credit toward a new booking with us, provided the new tour is booked and begins within one year of the original booking date. Terms of that carry-forward:
- You request revised tour details for the rescheduled dates.
- The itinerary, inclusions and prices may change with market, seasonal or supplier rates at the time of re-booking.
- If the new tour costs more than the retained advance, you pay the difference.
- If the new tour costs less, the balance is not refunded but remains as the price of the rescheduled trip.
Darshan passes and fixed-price rites
Official darshan tickets, aarti passes and fixed-price rites (pind daan, rudrabhishek and similar) are booked with the temple trusts and pandas on their own terms and are non-refundable once issued, because the trust or pandit has already been paid at a fixed price. This is stated on your quote as a pass-through line. To be explicit, and because the market abuses the phrase: we do not sell “VIP darshan” for temples that issue none, so there is no such charge to refund; what is non-refundable is the genuine official ticket once the trust has issued it.
No refund on competitive pricing
Once a booking is confirmed and payment processed, the confirmed rate is final. We do not entertain refund, adjustment or compensation requests on the grounds that a lower price or competitive offer was found afterward for the same or similar services. Market fluctuations, promotions and third-party discounts after booking do not affect the agreed booking amount.
